The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort has officially cut the ribbon on a sweeping convention center expansion, cementing its place as the largest convention hotel on the U.S. Eastern Seaboard. The milestone was announced on the resort's official Facebook page alongside the ceremony itself.
The new addition brings more than 100,000 square feet of fresh meeting and event space to the property, pushing the resort's combined indoor and outdoor event capacity to over 600,000 square feet total. That's a significant leap for a venue that was already one of the region's premier destinations for large-scale gatherings.
The expanded footprint is made up of three distinct areas: a 38,000-square-foot Upper Peninsula Ballroom, a 40,000-square-foot Lower Peninsula multi-function space, and 38,000 square feet of pre-function space — giving event planners a range of flexible configurations to work with.
The convention center growth is one of the centerpiece achievements of the resort's broader $275 million transformation, a wide-ranging upgrade that has been reshaping this iconic Walt Disney World property for some time now.
