St. Augustine and the surrounding Florida’s Historic Coast are marking October with haunted outings, fall festivals and seasonal attractions, according to the St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & The Beaches Visitors & Convention Bureau.

Visitors seeking a spooky-season activity can find ghost tours ranging from family-oriented early-evening trips to late-night paranormal investigations. The Ximenez-Fatio House Museum’s Mortality & Mourning Candlelight Tours are scheduled each weekend through Oct. 31. Other options cited by the tourism bureau include the Beetlejuice Pub Crawl from The Tasting Tours, After Dark Investigations ghost-hunting excursions and Dark of the Moon Ghost Tours at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum, which share stories of the Pittee sisters.

October’s non-haunted events include Sykes Family Farms’ harvest festival in Elkton. The farm event features a nine-acre corn maze, hayrides, a pumpkin patch, U-pick sunflowers, farm animals and children’s activities. St. Augustine’s Greek Festival will add traditional food, dancing and live music during its weekend program.

Florida’s Historic Coast encompasses St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra, Hastings, Elkton and St. Johns, as well as 42 miles of Atlantic shoreline. The area sits between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach and can be reached via I-95, I-10, I-75 and Florida Highway A1A, the bureau said.

Travelers planning an October visit can combine the seasonal events with time in historic downtown St. Augustine, area beaches and local dining. The visitor bureau also said lodging partners and attractions are offering fall travel deals.
