Former Spirit Airlines employees in the Orlando area have a concrete opportunity to get back into aviation this week, as two separate recruiting events land at the Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek on Bonnet Creek Resort Lane.
American Airlines is hosting a recruiting session specifically for ex-Spirit pilots and maintenance crew members on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The airline is looking to fill roles in flight operations and aircraft maintenance, among other technical positions.
Starting Thursday, the Signia by Hilton becomes home to the Latino Professionals in Aerospace Expo, a two-day hiring event also open to workers displaced by Spirit's shutdown. The expo is designed to connect job seekers with a broader range of aerospace and aviation employers.
The timing is meaningful: Spirit Airlines ceased operations on May 2 after 33 years in business, leaving thousands of workers nationwide searching for new positions. These Orlando events reflect the wider aviation industry's ongoing effort to absorb that talent.
