The Tampa Convention Center is hosting Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. for its 61st International Biennial Boule from July 22 through 26, 2026 — the organization's first international convention in Tampa in nearly 50 years. The multi-day gathering will fill the waterfront venue with plenary sessions, leadership development programming, networking events, and social gatherings.
The convention is projected to deliver a significant boost to the local economy, with an estimated $5,099,572 in direct regional spending. Attendees will be staying in downtown hotels, dining at local restaurants, and supporting neighborhood businesses throughout the week.
Beyond the convention floor, sorority members are rolling up their sleeves for a series of community service initiatives across the Tampa Bay area. Highlights include assembling 300 newborn care packages at the Convention Center's Ballroom D, distributing 3,000 backpacks to K-8 students through the Operation Big Book Bag program, and providing 300 free swim lessons at the Martin Luther King Jr. Pool through the Swim 1922 water safety initiative.
Residents are welcome to attend the sorority's Public Meeting on Thursday, July 23, at 7 p.m. in the Tampa Convention Center's West/Central Hall.
