Royal Caribbean has agreed to acquire a 50% equity stake in Sandals Resorts in a deal reported at $3 billion, according to CNBC as cited by Disney Food Blog.

Sandals operates a collection of all-inclusive Caribbean resorts known for adults-only vacations, with more than a dozen locations across the region. The transaction is expected to close in early 2027.

The partnership would expand Royal Caribbean’s land-based vacation offerings beyond its cruise business and private destinations for cruise guests. Disney Food Blog reported that the companies expect the agreement to support growth for both businesses.

Royal Caribbean is also continuing to grow its fleet. The cruise line’s Hero of the Seas is scheduled to begin sailing in summer 2027 as the fourth Icon Class ship. The line describes Icon Class as the world’s largest cruise-ship class, with capacity for about 7,600 guests.
