Finding satisfying plant-based meals inside Walt Disney World's theme parks can be a challenge, but a new addition to the menu at Regal Eagle Smokehouse in EPCOT's American Adventure pavilion is making a strong case for itself.
The Plant-based Chili Baked Potato is priced at $13.49 and comes loaded with chili made from red beans, black beans, and garbanzo beans, plus sour cream, cheese, and a Benne Seed-Herb Sauce — benne being a Southern term for sesame seed. The portion size is notably generous, with the potato described as truly oversized.
On first taste, the combination of ingredients was enjoyable, though the dish initially seemed to lack salt. Adding a few packets of salt and pepper made a significant difference, bringing all the flavors together and elevating the overall experience considerably.
The variety of specialty plant-based components and the apparent complexity of the dish suggest it took real effort to develop, which may explain the price point. For plant-based diners visiting EPCOT, it stands out as one of the more thoughtfully constructed options currently available in the park.
