The Plant-Based Chili Baked Potato at Regal Eagle Smokehouse, located in the American Adventure pavilion at World Showcase, has been stopping fellow diners mid-stride, with curious park guests approaching to ask what on earth that enormous dish is.
Priced at $13.49, the potato is loaded with plant-based chili, vegan sour cream, shredded vegan cheese, and a Benne Seed-Herb Sauce — benne being an old Southern word for sesame seed. The chili itself features a hearty combination of red beans, black beans, and garbanzo beans. The sheer size of the dish is described as comparable to Disney's famously oversized giant croissant.
One caveat worth noting: every component is plant-based, which means the dish arrives a bit underseasoned for those expecting the full salty punch of a traditional loaded potato. A couple of salt and pepper packets from the condiment station made a noticeable difference, bringing the herb sauce, chili, and cheese to life. The vegan sour cream carries a mild coconut aftertaste, and the vegan cheese won't melt the way dairy does — both are worth knowing going in.
Despite those quirks, the overall verdict is positive. The variety of specialty plant-based ingredients and the complexity of the dish suggest real culinary investment, and the portion size alone justifies the price for many appetites. It pairs well with a side of watermelon, conveniently offered as an alternative to fries for anyone who'd rather not double down on potato.
