Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe in Magic Kingdom's Frontierland is rolling out four brand-new exclusive dishes for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year, and the results are decidedly mixed. The quick-service spot stays open until 10 PM on party nights, giving guests plenty of time to work through the new lineup — but not everything deserves a spot in your plans.
The clear standout is the Frightful Black Bean Burger ($12.99), a purple-bunned plant-based burger topped with jalapeño-ranch slaw and jalapeño chips, served with fries. The smoky, hearty black bean patty drew comparisons to a party-era Doom Burger from Columbia Harbour House, and reviewers called it the only item at Pecos truly worth seeking out this Halloween season. The Skull-icious Cake ($6.29) — chocolate cake layered with chocolate mousse, peanut butter buttercream, popping candies, and a chocolate cookie crust — earned points for impressive presentation and well-balanced flavors, though the large white chocolate skull decoration pushed the sweetness into overdrive.
The Cursed Cowboy Fries ($10.49), sweet potato fries topped with barbecue burnt ends, chipotle queso, pico de gallo, and crispy jalapeños, had a genuinely tasty queso with a nice peppery kick, but the burnt ends lacked any crispiness, leaving the whole dish with a soggy, chewy texture that was hard to get through. The returning Guava Lemonade Slushy ($6.79) — a non-alcoholic guava-lemonade slushy topped with cheesecake foam, Halloween sprinkles, and a sugar spider — fared worst of all, with reviewers describing the sour-and-dairy combination as one of the most unpleasant things they'd encountered at Walt Disney World.
On the bright side, two returning favorites are also available: Buzzard Wings tossed with grilled onions, jalapeños, and lime, and the Pumpkin Patch Mini Churros — mini churros rolled in orange sugar and served with pumpkin cheesecake dip, which the reviewers rank among the top five snacks at the entire party.
