Halloween season will fill Central Florida’s parks, theaters and attractions throughout October, with options ranging from daytime family festivities to mature-audience haunted events. Orlando Magazine’s October calendar includes events in Orlando, Winter Haven, Sanford, Altamonte Springs, Clermont, Kissimmee, DeLand, Tampa, Melbourne and Daytona Beach.
Several major theme-park celebrations run through Halloween. LEGOLAND Florida Resort’s Brick or Treat is scheduled on weekends through Oct. 31 and is included with admission, offering trick-or-treating, Brick or Treat Street and select-evening Monster Skytacular drone shows. At Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs through Oct. 31 as a separately ticketed 7 p.m. event, with parades, stage shows, projections, fireworks and seasonal food. SeaWorld Orlando’s daytime Halloween Spooktacular is scheduled on select dates through Nov. 1 and is included with admission, while SeaWorld Howl-O-Scream returns on select nights through Oct. 31 as a separately ticketed event for mature guests.
Universal Studios Florida’s Halloween Horror Nights continues through Nov. 1. The separately ticketed event, recommended for guests 13 and older, features 10 haunted houses, scare zones, live shows and themed food and beverages; the listed haunted-house lineup includes Stranger Things, Sinners and Hellraiser. Outside the major parks, A Petrified Forest in Altamonte Springs is open Oct. 2-31, with three haunted trails, an escape ride and an immersive theater experience. The Showcase of Citrus in Clermont offers its Haunted Monster Truck Ride through Oct. 31, with rides scheduled eight times nightly from Thursday through Saturday.
Family-focused dates include Gatorland’s Gators, Ghosts and Goblins on select Saturdays and Sundays from Oct. 10-25; the free Trick or Treat Safe Zone at Orlando’s Orange County Regional History Center on Oct. 11 from noon to 4 p.m.; and the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens’ Zoo Boo Bash on Oct. 17-18, Oct. 24-25 and Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Gatorland’s and the zoo’s events are included with regular admission.
Halloween-themed stage events include Rock Cauldron Cabaret at Orlando’s Dr. Phillips Center from Oct. 7-10; The Vampire Circus in Melbourne on Oct. 18 and Daytona Beach on Oct. 22; Fear Circus Unleashed in Kissimmee on Oct. 22; and Phantasmagoria XVII – Frankenstein in DeLand on Oct. 24. The Rocky Horror Picture Show will also be staged Oct. 30 in Sanford and Oct. 30-31 in DeLand, with both presentations restricted to guests 18 and older.
