Orlando officials have given the green light to a new 140,000-square-foot multipurpose event center to be built adjacent to Camping World Stadium, with a price tag of roughly $61 million and a target completion date of late 2027.
The facility is part of a broader $400 million improvement effort at Camping World Stadium, financed through Orange County's tourist development tax. According to the city, the center is designed to accommodate up to 16 volleyball courts or eight basketball courts at once, along with other community and civic gatherings.
The building will rise on a 3.9-acre parcel at the corner of Church Street and Tampa Avenue — land the city purchased in 2025 and folded into the downtown Community Redevelopment Agency boundary in 2026. An existing church on the property will be demolished to clear the way for construction. Orlando's Chief Venues Officer Allen Johnson noted the site will also serve as a natural gathering point for fan festivals tied to concerts and bowl games at the adjacent stadium.
District 5 City Commissioner Shan Rose highlighted the broader economic potential, saying the project creates room for small businesses to grow alongside Orlando's expanding sports and entertainment profile. Long-time neighborhood resident James Drayton, who has watched the area evolve for more than two decades, said he welcomes the change and is looking forward to something significant taking shape nearby.
