Disney's Hollywood Studios is getting a brand-new Monsters, Inc.-themed land called Monstropolis in 2027, and Disney dropped a wave of fresh details about it at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The news is mostly exciting — with one notable catch for thrill-seekers.

The centerpiece roller coaster, themed to the Monsters, Inc. factory door vault, is shaping up to be an intense ride. Disney shared an animated preview of the loading area, revealing that riders will be lifted 40 feet into the air in just four seconds before launching into the vault. However, the coaster won't be ready in time for the land's 2027 opening — Disney confirmed it's still being prepared for guests, so it will arrive as a later expansion of Monstropolis.

Opening day in 2027 will still have plenty to offer. The Glob Theater will host a brand-new theatrical show called "Welcome to Monstropolis," featuring an original song written by Randy Newman. Concept art for the show has also been released. The land will also include dining and shopping options: Archie's Scare Pig Pizza, Harryhausen's Restaurant, the Monster University Alumni Club, and the Scareporium.

For anyone already planning a Disney's Hollywood Studios visit, Monstropolis is shaping up to be a multi-phase addition worth keeping on your radar well beyond opening day.
