The former Muppets Courtyard at Disney's Hollywood Studios is looking less and less like a Muppets anything these days. Aerial photos captured by photographer bioreconstruct on September 20 show Monstropolis filling in quickly, with wooden forms for concrete planters appearing throughout the land, theming going up on columns at the entrance plaza, and an octagonal frame laid down as the base for a future fountain at the plaza's center.
Two of the land's dining destinations are clearly taking shape. The building featuring arched architectural details will become Archie's Scare Pig Pizza, replacing the former PizzeRizzo. Nearby, scaffolding is in place so crews can install themed façade elements on Harryhausen's — the restaurant that replaces Mama Melrose's and takes its name from a spot seen in the original Monsters, Inc. film. Exterior chopsticks theming for Harryhausen's is already visible in the aerial shots.
One image also hints at the land's storytelling flow: a section of the area is designed to transition guests from Monstropolis city streets into the factory zone, mimicking the daily commute of Mike and Sulley from the films. A wider aerial perspective puts the land's footprint in context, showing its position next to the under-construction door coaster show building and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
Beyond the dining venues and open-air streetscape, Monstropolis will also include a new theatrical experience called Welcome to Monstropolis! With Sulley & Mike inside The Glob theater — the former home of Muppet Vision 3-D — featuring an original song by composer Randy Newman. The door coaster, meanwhile, will be Disney's first-ever suspended coaster and its first vertical lift coaster. The land is slated to open in phases in 2027, though no specific date has been announced.
