Construction on the Monsters, Inc. door coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios has reached a visible new milestone. Aerial photos captured by photographer bioreconstruct show two tall gray steel structures rising on opposite sides of the attraction's central loading area — these are the vertical lift systems that will send guests shooting skyward once the ride opens.
According to details Disney has already shared, guests will board suspended ride vehicles near the factory floor level with their seats oriented sideways. The trains will then rise more than 40 feet in roughly four seconds, with individual seats rotating forward during the climb. At the top of the lift, vehicles will launch directly into the attraction's door vault on an enclosed upper level, which now has roof coverage visible in the latest images.
Inside the loading area, several of the rounded "M"-shaped overhead framework elements — styled after the Monsters, Inc. scare floor — are now visible between the lift towers, adding character to what will become a fully themed station with two loading zones beneath that distinctive canopy. Additional coaster track sections, stacked in organized rows along the Disney Skyliner corridor staging area nearby, include gentle bends, tighter curves, and straight segments still awaiting installation.
The door coaster is one of several components of Monstropolis, which will be the first land based on the Monsters, Inc. franchise at Hollywood Studios. Disney has revealed that the land's story centers on H.U.M.A.N. Day — short for "Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice" — a celebration welcoming humans into Monstropolis following the events of the original film. The land will also include Harryhausen's and The Glob theater. No opening date has been announced.
