Construction on the Monsters, Inc. Door Vault attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios is picking up pace, with freshly delivered roller-coaster track now positioned right alongside the ride's show building. Aerial photographer Bioreconstruct captured overhead images showing multiple curved gray steel assemblies grouped on the dirt near the building's concrete foundation, along with straight track pieces and other materials — a clear sign that components previously stored farther away are being moved into position for actual installation.
Some curved steel pieces have already made it onto the concrete slab itself, and cranes ringing the structure stand ready to hoist track and supporting framework into place. Track work began earlier this summer with components believed to serve the coaster's service and maintenance areas; the newly arrived curved sections should allow that progress to push deeper into the attraction's full layout.
A separate staging yard visible from the Disney Skyliner still holds a substantial supply of track sections, supports, pipes, and other materials. The first components arrived at that yard back in June, and flatbed trucks continue shuttling pieces to the active construction zone as needed. An Adena Corporation trailer was spotted parked near the site.
The wider aerial view also shows the massive steel show building continuing to climb above what was formerly Muppets Courtyard. Multiple levels of framing are up, and metal decking now covers portions of the structure, while other foundation areas remain open for continued vertical construction. When finished, the attraction will be the first suspended roller coaster and the first vertical-lift coaster built for a Disney park, sending guests in door-shaped vehicles through a recreation of the Door Vault chase from Pixar's Monsters, Inc.
