Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge just got a lot more connected to the living room. Starting August 16, guests at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland can activate a special Fortnite-linked mission aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run — and the rewards they earn during the ride carry back home into the video game.
Here's how it works: guests open the My Disney Experience or Disneyland app while waiting in the Smugglers Run queue and accept the Smuggler's Gambit mission. Doing so unlocks a special briefing from the pirate Hondo Ohnaka, additional secrets inside the Falcon's cockpit, and crates crews can collect during the ride. Guests who have linked their MyDisney and Epic Games accounts can then convert that in-park loot into Fortnite rewards — including a Forsworn Trooper outfit and in-game credits usable in Smuggler's Gambit, a brand-new Star Wars Creative island developed by Disney's internal games team alongside Lucasfilm. Progression in Fortnite can also boost a player's score when they return to the physical attraction.
The Smuggler's Gambit island introduces a new planet in the Star Wars galaxy where players take on quests, run cooperative missions, and battle pirates, Imperial remnants, and dangerous wildlife. Disney described the whole project as a "full circle physical-to-digital connection" and signaled it's an early preview of something much larger — an ambition that Imagineers said actually dates back to Galaxy's Edge's original development around 2014.
The crossover builds on a busy stretch of updates for Smugglers Run. In May 2026, the attraction debuted its Mandalorian and Grogu adventure, which added new destinations, expanded crew control, and updated gameplay for each position aboard the Falcon. The Fortnite link now extends that story beyond the park gates for the first time. For comparison, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood are also bringing Fortnite into a physical setting this fall with Fortnitemares at Halloween Horror Nights — though that experience translates the game into a walk-through scare zone rather than creating a two-way bridge between a ride and the game itself.
