Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party returns to Magic Kingdom for 38 nights between August 7 and October 31, 2026, with tickets ranging from $119 to $229 — nearly identical to last year's event on both counts. But while the lineup of fireworks, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, and the special parade remain largely intact, one behind-the-scenes change has already stirred up fierce debate among longtime fans: the Cast Member costumes are reportedly getting a complete redesign.
Images purportedly from Walt Disney World's internal Cast Member communications site have been circulating on social media, showing two new costume styles labeled Look A and Look B. Both feature a short-sleeved black button-down shirt printed with stacked skeletons in red, purple, and green. Look A pairs the untucked shirt with dark green shorts and a bat-wing headband, while Look B tucks the same shirt into dark green long pants, adding a black belt and bow tie. Neither appears to include a dress option, continuing a trend toward gender-neutral Cast Member uniforms across the resort.
The reaction from fans — and apparently Cast Members themselves — has been largely negative. The outgoing costumes, which have been a fixture of MNSSHP for at least two decades, were a deliberate riot of mismatched color and pattern: yellow-and-orange plaid layered over green-and-yellow striped bat shirts, finished with purple skirts or trousers and oversized bat headbands or bow ties. They were loud, playful, and unmistakably festive — the kind of uniform guests spotted from across the park and immediately associated with the event's atmosphere.
The new look, by contrast, skews dark and low-key. Critics argue it reads more like something a guest might wear than a distinctive, park-issued costume — a criticism that has followed several Disney uniform redesigns over the past decade as the company has prioritized breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics and sustainability credentials over theatrical flair. Walt Disney World has not publicly confirmed the change or featured the new designs in any official guest-facing marketing materials for the 2026 event.
