Magic Kingdom's villainous expansion finally has a story to tell. At D23 2026, Disney revealed that Villains Land will be anchored by two headline attractions: a roller coaster themed to Maleficent and a dark ride hosted by the Magic Mirror from Snow White. The announcements filled in major gaps left when the land was first announced at D23 2024.
The world of Villains Land is tied together by an original fairytale. Deep inside a threatening forest, guests will find a corrupted Wishing Well — destroyed long ago by an evil wish that unleashed poisoned magic into the surrounding area. Disney's roster of villains eventually converged on that spot to claim its power, each using it to construct elaborate lairs and fortresses that form the environments guests will explore.
The Maleficent coaster will send riders racing through enchanted briars surrounding the Mistress of All Evil's mountaintop fortress. Disney says the attraction will include elements the company has never attempted on a similar ride before, though specific technical details are still being kept under wraps. The second attraction takes a different approach: guests will discover the Magic Mirror hidden in the catacombs beneath the Evil Queen's palace, where he transports riders through the glass and into a place called the Mirror Realm, populated by numerous Disney Villains brought to life through physical scenery and special effects. The full character lineup has not yet been announced.
Visually, Imagineers drew inspiration from Art Nouveau and Modernisme after research trips to Paris and Barcelona, developing what Disney calls "Conjured Architecture" — structures that appear to have been formed through magic rather than built by human hands. Disney has compared the overall size and scope of the finished land to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
