Two Magic Kingdom Closures Could Overlap This Fall

Guests planning a Magic Kingdom visit this fall have two attraction closures to keep on their radar. Walt Disney World has confirmed scheduled refurbishments for the Walt Disney World Railroad and Tiana's Bayou Adventure, and the timing of the two closures means early-November visitors could find both attractions temporarily unavailable at the same time.

The Walt Disney World Railroad goes offline first, closing September 28, 2026, for what Disney describes as a routine refurbishment. The attraction is expected to reopen sometime in November, though no specific date has been announced. During the closure, trains won't be running, but Main Street Train Station will remain accessible for parade and fireworks viewing, and Storybook Circus Station will still be open for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party activities.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure then closes November 2, 2026, with a projected December reopening — again without a confirmed date. Because the railroad's return window and Tiana's closure date overlap, guests arriving at Magic Kingdom in early November could realistically find both attractions down simultaneously. Disney hasn't ruled out an early-November railroad reopening, but without an official date, visitors shouldn't plan around that possibility.

The timing matters more than usual because November and December are among the busiest months at Walt Disney World. The park shifts from Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party into its Christmas season, including Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, drawing families who may have Tiana's Bayou Adventure — which opened in 2024 after replacing Splash Mountain — near the top of their must-do lists. These refurbishments are also happening against a broader backdrop of major construction: the Cars-inspired Piston Peak National Park and the planned Villains Land are both reshaping Magic Kingdom's layout in the coming years.
