If you're heading to Magic Kingdom soon, plan your Frontierland route accordingly: the boardwalk that runs along the waterfront is now completely enclosed by construction walls. The closure is tied to the ongoing development of Piston Peak National Park, the upcoming Cars-themed addition to the land.
The situation has been building gradually. About half the boardwalk went offline back in early July, and for several weeks guests could still squeeze through a small stretch near the Westward Ho location. That last open section is now walled off as well, with barriers running continuously from Liberty Square all the way to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Despite the dramatic sight of walls on all sides, the boardwalk itself isn't going away. It shows up in official Piston Peak concept art, suggesting it will remain part of the finished area — though it's likely to get a refresh during the construction period rather than being demolished.
When Piston Peak National Park eventually opens, it will bring two new rides to the mix: Cars Ridge Run Rally and Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin Along, both set within the Cars universe.
