Guests strolling through EPCOT's China World Showcase Pavilion this weekend will notice a fresher look at the Lotus Blossom Café. The quick-service restaurant's right-side indoor-outdoor dining area quietly reopened on August 9, completing a two-phase refurbishment that kept crews busy all summer long.
The most noticeable upgrade is underfoot. The old small, dark brown tiles have been swapped out for larger, bright beige tiles — the same style installed on the left-side dining area when it wrapped up its own refurbishment earlier in the summer. With both halves now matching, the café has a unified, cohesive feel it previously lacked.
Beyond the new flooring, the space should feel familiar to returning visitors. The distinctive cross-shaped orange light fixtures, rectangular tables, and silver metal chairs remain in place, and decorative touches like calligraphy panels, mosaic tiles, and teal ceiling trim are still very much part of the atmosphere — likely cleaned and refreshed, but not redesigned.
Diners were never left without options during the project. Throughout both phases of the refurbishment, the Lotus Blossom Café continued serving guests, with Walt Disney World Resort adding temporary picnic tables and benches along the pavilion walkways to make up for the reduced seating. Those extra seats have since been removed now that the full café is back in operation.
