Jacksonville's local community group Jacksonville Fun, Eats and Events is turning up the heat this weekend with its first-ever Wing Eating Contest and Hot Sauce Challenge. The event takes place Saturday, September 19, at 1:00 p.m. at Myrtle Avenue Brewing.
Beyond the competitive eating, organizers are billing this as their biggest meetup to date — a lively gathering that also features a local craft market for browsing and shopping from area makers and vendors.
The event comes with a notable guest: rock guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, best known for his work with Guns N' Roses, will be on hand for a meet-and-greet. Attendees can also sample Bumblefoot's own hot sauce line while they're there.
