Jacksonville is delivering a strong weekend lineup, with five events spanning live music, literary culture, competitive eating, and a classic Pixar film — most of them free to attend.
Kicking off Friday evening, The Incredibles screens at Artist Walk starting at 7 p.m., offering a free outdoor showing of the 2004 animated superhero film with the unique backdrop of I-95 traffic rolling overhead. Then on Saturday morning, the Jax Book Fest takes over the Main Library in downtown Jacksonville at 9:30 a.m. Bestselling novelist Emma Straub headlines the free festival, which also features graphic novelist John Patrick Green and YA author Jennifer Lynn Barnes, plus book signings, seminars, face painting, a photo booth, and a robot maze — no library card required.
Also on Saturday, Myrtle Avenue Brewing hosts the inaugural Wing Eating and Hot Sauce Challenge at 1 p.m. Smoked wings from Butt-Hutt Smokehouse will be at the center of the action, and guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal — known for his work with Guns N' Roses and Asia — will be on hand to meet fans and share samples of his own hot sauce line. Across town that evening, country star Ella Langley brings her Dandelion Tour to VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena for what is the only Florida date on the tour. The show is sold out, with resale tickets starting around $287.50 for upper-level seats and floor spots topping $1,000.
On the classical music side, the Jacksonville Symphony opens its 2026–27 season this weekend with a pair of free Community Concerts at Jacoby Symphony Hall, led by associate conductor Na'Zir McFadden. Those tickets have already been claimed, but the symphony's full season runs through June with around 40 events on the calendar.
