September 4 has grown into something bigger than just a date on the calendar for Jacksonville. Each year, 904 Day draws local leaders, nonprofits, and residents together to celebrate the city's neighborhoods, people, and shared future — and 2026 was no exception.
The centerpiece of this year's festivities was the 904 Day Breakfast at VyStar Tower, organized by LIFT JAX, a nonprofit focused on ending generational poverty in Jacksonville's Historic Eastside neighborhood. The gathering brought together business leaders from across sectors to recognize community contributions and build momentum for the city's growth.
Among those honored at the breakfast was the MyVillage Project, recognized for its work empowering young people, supporting families, and creating opportunities across Florida. MyVillage CEO Ronnie King and Children's Home Society Executive Director Kimberly Bennett were both on hand for the celebration.
Mayor Donna Deegan appeared on Jacksonville's Morning News ahead of delivering the breakfast keynote, speaking to the role that business and community organizations play in lifting the city. VyStar's Vice President of Community Engagement Kemal Gasper also joined the broadcast to reflect on the community connections that 904 Day continues to foster year after year.
