One of Magic Kingdom's most beloved attractions is showing its age. Reporters from WDW News Today recently documented multiple signs of wear and neglect at 'it's a small world,' raising questions about when Disney might schedule a refurbishment for the iconic ride.
In the queue area, a wrinkled scrim remains attached to the base of the white and gold mural, and the bridge shows scuff marks on its white paint along with grime collecting on the underside of a gold-colored metal beam. The issues continue once guests board their boats: dark staining marks the waterline where the facade meets the water, the white facade material is peeling away at the base, and several light bulbs on one of the arches have burned out. The overall appearance of the set pieces has been described as dingy.
The exterior clock's toy soldier figures are also in need of attention, and two character dolls inside the ride — the Irish dancer and the flamenco dancer — have reportedly been absent for an extended stretch of time.
This is not the first time the attraction's condition has been flagged recently. WDW News Today has been tracking the ride's upkeep over the past several weeks, previously reporting on a significant buildup of dirt and dust near the queue. No refurbishment has been announced by Disney at this time.
