Construction on Indiana Jones & The Myth of the Jade Serpent at Disney's Animal Kingdom took another official step forward on September 11, 2026, when Walt Disney World Resort filed a new notice of commencement in Orange County. The permit lists the project address as 501 Restaurantosaurus Road — the longtime home of the former DINOSAUR attraction that is being transformed into the upcoming Indiana Jones ride.
The filing contracts Buena Vista Construction Company, Disney's own in-house construction subsidiary, to provide labor, materials, and electrical work. Because the permit was filed by Walt Disney World Resort rather than Walt Disney Imagineering, it likely covers general construction rather than themed elements specifically. Disney had already extended separate permits for both construction and theming work back in July.
Work on the exterior is visibly taking shape. Aerial photographer bioreconstruct has captured shots showing colorful Mayan temple facade pieces already being installed on-site, and they closely match the miniature ride model Disney debuted publicly at D23 2026 earlier this year.
The attraction itself will send guests into a mysterious Maya temple tied to an original story. Inside, an imposing audio-animatronic figure called Tsukán guards a passage said to lead to the Maya Underworld. Harrison Ford's likeness will be used for the Indiana Jones audio-animatronic — a first for any Disney Parks attraction. The ride is part of the broader Tropical Americas land, which had been targeting a 2027 opening before Disney quietly removed that timeline from its official website.
