If you've walked through the Hall of Presidents lobby at Magic Kingdom more than once this year, you may have noticed something different each time — and that's no accident. Walt Disney World has been rotating artifacts in and out of the attraction's display cases at a pace that's quite unusual for a show that typically only gets a major overhaul when a new president takes office.
The current chapter began when the attraction reopened on June 29, 2025, following a full refurbishment that introduced a new audio-animatronic of President Donald Trump and relocated the figure of President Joe Biden. That update also continued a trend started during the Biden era of shortening the sitting president's on-stage speech — Trump now recites only the Oath of Office during the show.
Since that reopening, the lobby has seen at least four rounds of changes. February brought the removal of a basketball on loan from the Barack Obama Presidential Library, replaced by an image of President John F. Kennedy with White House pony Macaroni. May added a WWI-era photo and mess kit connected to Harry S. Truman — the mess kit discovered in his sister's basement and loaned by the Truman Presidential Library — along with a football gifted to Gerald R. Ford by the Detroit Lions in 1977. That same month, a dinner party dress worn by Bess Truman replaced a gown belonging to Rosalynn Carter in the First Ladies case, and Bess Truman's library card joined the display as well.
July brought a tennis racket gifted to President George H. W. Bush by South Korean President Roh Tae-woo during a 1992 visit, on loan from the Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, Texas. The First Ladies case also gained a dress, portrait, and hair comb belonging to Dolley Madison that month. Most recently, guests spotted yet another new gown in the First Ladies case — though Walt Disney World appears to have left the previous placard (belonging to Lucy Webb Hayes) in place without yet adding updated signage for the new item.
