The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom has a fresh addition to its First Ladies display — a burgundy gown believed to belong to Lucy Webb Hayes, wife of President Rutherford B. Hayes. The dress features a white lace collar, a slim-fitting corset with a V-shaped point at the front waist, gold buttons, velvet cuffs, patterned lace undersleeves, and beaded hip details that flow down the skirt.
The new gown is positioned between Elizabeth "Bess" Truman's blue dinner dress and a dusty pink 18th-century gown worn by Dolley Payne Todd Madison. Notably, unlike the other displayed dresses, this one does not yet have an identifying card on the floor. The display signage does point to Lucy Webb Hayes as the owner, though reporters observed no visible change from the previous exhibit configuration.
This addition continues a busy stretch of updates at the attraction. In early July, a Dolley Madison gown, a new portrait, and a hair comb were added to the display, along with a 1992 tennis racket belonging to President George H. W. Bush. Back in May, Disney introduced a Bess Truman dress alongside artifacts representing Harry S. Truman and Gerald R. Ford.
