Grand Theft Auto VI may not include parodies of Walt Disney World, Universal Studios or SeaWorld, based on details shared so far about the game’s fictionalized Florida setting.
Rockstar Games is setting the new installment in Leonida, a dramatized version of Florida. Its map will include six main regions: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.
According to WDW News Today, Vice City is modeled on Miami, while the Leonida Keys echo the Florida Keys and Grassrivers represents the Everglades. The game’s setting extends from areas resembling South Florida to a fictional park near the Florida-Georgia line, but available information has not indicated a Central Florida theme-park equivalent.
Paul MacPherson, Rockstar’s senior vice president of environment art, said the team must weigh a range of landscapes, communities, landmarks, plant species and other features before narrowing the locations used in the game. He said the selected places are intended to deliver a full Florida experience while serving the game’s design and narrative needs.
