Guests staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground are dealing with a temporary but meaningful change to bus transportation. Buses heading to Magic Kingdom and Disney's Wilderness Lodge — which normally depart from the Settlement Bus Depot at the back of the property — are currently picking up passengers at the Reception Outpost near the front of the resort instead.
The shift stems from a water main break that washed out the road connecting Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge, forcing Disney to reroute bus operations. Disney has posted signage around the resort to alert guests to the change, but anyone spending time near Pioneer Hall, Tri-Circle-D Ranch, or other Settlement-area amenities should be aware that their usual bus stop is temporarily out of service for those two routes.
Because Fort Wilderness covers an unusually large amount of ground, the difference between these two bus depots is not trivial. Guests coming from the back of the campground will need to factor in extra time to reach the Reception Outpost — especially if they have a dining reservation, a Lightning Lane return window, or a hard start time at Magic Kingdom waiting on the other end.
The water main break has also caused plumbing issues at Boulder Ridge Villas at Wilderness Lodge, making this a broader operational disruption than a simple stop relocation. Disney has not announced a timeline for when the road will be repaired or when buses will return to their regular pickup point at the Settlement Bus Depot.
