Construction on Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift at Universal Studios Florida has reached a significant milestone, with nearly the entire roller coaster track now installed. Aerial photographs shared by photographer bioreconstruct show light gray track threading through a dense forest of dark blue support columns, weaving between existing soundstages and park structures with only a handful of gaps left to close.
Among the standout features already in place is the attraction's signature 170-foot spike, which twists 180 degrees near its peak. Trains will ride up the structure, then reverse direction and return through a sliding switch track. Bioreconstruct notes the second-tallest section of the coaster — where a few track ends remain unconnected — could serve as the site of a future topping-off ceremony.
Progress is also visible around the station, which now sports a completed metal roof with track curving tightly around three sides of the building. Steel framing continues to rise nearby around what is believed to be an enclosed opening scene area, which has gained additional roofing and exterior panels since earlier updates.
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift takes over the footprint previously occupied by Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, which closed in August 2025. Meanwhile, the park's existing Fast & Furious – Supercharged attraction is set to permanently close on August 17, 2026, with its final operating day on August 16. Universal has announced the new coaster is targeting a 2027 opening.
