Refurbishment work at Echo Lake in Disney’s Hollywood Studios has moved into its detailing phase, with more realistic paint finishes now visible on the artificial logs and tree stumps around the water.

WDWNT reported that the props received brown base coats in late September before crews added shading and contrast. The newer finish emphasizes their texture and gives the logs a more wood-like appearance from a distance.

Work is also continuing on S.S. Down the Hatch, the boat-themed structure that houses Dockside Diner. Its white exterior has been refreshed and a simulated waterline added, while the red hull has been repainted.

Orange-toned weathering effects are also being applied around the boat’s portholes and rivets to create the look of rust. Echo Lake, home to Gertie the Dinosaur, was drained last month, and scaffolding was installed around Dockside Diner soon afterward, according to WDWNT.
