Construction work at Echo Lake in Disney’s Hollywood Studios has moved below the waterline, with crews installing new electrical conduit across the drained lake.
According to WDW News Today, the conduit stretches from Dockside Diner to Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream of Extinction. It runs beneath recently repainted artificial logs and tree stumps.
The conduit is secured with straps mounted to concrete boxes placed along the lake bottom. The setup appears designed to avoid drilling into the lake’s watertight surface, WDW News Today reported.
Once Echo Lake is refilled, the underwater placement will keep the conduit out of guests’ view. Disney has not announced what the electrical work will support, and the report noted that additional conduit could be installed later.

Crews have also repainted the base of S.S. Down the Hatch, the full-size boat façade that houses Dockside Diner. Its red hull now has a more uniform finish, without the previously visible water line. Echo Lake was drained in August, and scaffolding went up around Dockside Diner shortly afterward.
