Downtown Orlando is expected to draw more than 60,000 visitors from Friday, Sept. 25, through Sunday, Sept. 27, as concerts, professional soccer and regular weekend events converge with ongoing road construction.
The City of Orlando has warned drivers to allow extra time for traffic and parking. The busiest periods are expected from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 2 p.m. Sunday.
Congestion is expected on South Street between the SR 408 exit and Division Avenue, including near the ThreatLocker and City Commons garages. Drivers should also expect delays at the eastbound I-4 South Street off-ramp, the westbound I-4 West Anderson Street off-ramp and the I-4 South Street Express off-ramps.
Garth Brooks is scheduled to perform at Kia Center on all three days, while the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team plays Peru at Inter&Co Stadium at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts also has multiple shows scheduled throughout the weekend.
Sunday’s events include the Orlando Farmers Market at Lake Eola Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., a 2 p.m. Garth Brooks concert and two performances of Opera X: Flights of Puccini at the Dr. Phillips Center.
City officials encourage visitors to plan parking in advance, expect a walk from available spaces and consider SunRail or the Lymmo bus. Downtown parking includes garages, surface lots and street spaces, with event parking available for advance reservation and payment.
