Guests staying at Disney's Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts have their scenic water commute back. The FriendShip Boat dock at Disney's Yacht Club Resort reopened after a maintenance closure that stretched well past its original end date. The dock had been scheduled for a short refurbishment window from August 17 through August 21, 2026, but the project ran longer than anticipated, leaving guests to seek alternative transportation to Disney's Hollywood Studios and other Crescent Lake destinations in the meantime.
The work itself was substantial: crews removed aging decking and replaced it with new wood planking along the pier. With the project now complete, the FriendShip Boats are once again making their regular loops around Crescent Lake, connecting the Yacht and Beach Clubs to the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, Disney's BoardWalk, EPCOT, and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
The dock reopening is welcome news, but guests with upcoming stays should know that larger construction work continues across both properties. Exterior refurbishment on the Yacht Club side is expected to wrap up in late 2026, while Beach Club exterior work is projected to continue into late 2027. On top of that, the Beach Club Villas lobby is undergoing phased maintenance through mid-September 2026, with portions temporarily barricaded and alternative interior routes in use.
Travelers planning visits during the ongoing work should be aware that daytime construction noise and activity are possible, and balconies in sections directly behind active scaffolding may be temporarily off-limits. Disney is tackling the refurbishment in phases rather than all at once, so completed areas of both resorts already show a noticeably refreshed exterior. Guests concerned about their specific room placement are encouraged to speak with the front desk upon arrival about available options in finished sections.
