Visitors heading to Walt Disney World this weekend should prepare for hot, humid conditions and afternoon thunderstorms, according to a forecast cited by Disney Food Blog from the National Weather Service.

On Thursday, October 1, rain chances were forecast at 40% to 60%, increasing to 50% to 70% Friday. Afternoon storms could bring frequent lightning, gusty winds and heavy downpours.

High temperatures on Thursday and Friday were expected to reach the upper 80s to low 90s, while peak heat index values could range from 98 to 103 degrees Friday. The National Weather Service attributed the heat and returning moisture to high pressure building over the Florida peninsula.

Saturday and Sunday were forecast to have lower rain and storm chances than Friday, though showers could still develop. Highs were expected to remain in the upper 80s to low 90s, with overnight lows in the low to mid-70s.
