Walt Disney World Resort's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park quietly wrapped up its season on September 8, 2026, shifting into a scheduled refurbishment closure. For now, Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park is the resort's only operating splash destination, and Disney has not announced a specific date for Typhoon Lagoon's return.

If recent seasonal patterns hold, Typhoon Lagoon would likely reopen sometime in spring 2027 — typically timed around the point when Blizzard Beach heads into its own refurbishment cycle, so the two parks alternate rather than overlap.

This summer was a bit of a special run for the water parks. Both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach operated simultaneously as part of Walt Disney World's Cool KIDS' SUMMER promotion, which ran from May 26 through September 8. During that window, guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel received complimentary same-day admission to either water park on their check-in date.

That perk has now ended. Throughout 2025, Disney offered resort hotel guests year-round complimentary water park access on arrival day, directing them to whichever park was open at the time. This year, the benefit was tied exclusively to the Cool KIDS' SUMMER promotional period, meaning guests checking in on September 9 or later will not receive free Blizzard Beach admission. Whether a similar promotion returns in 2027 remains unclear.
