If resort-hopping has been part of your Disney World routine, a change that quietly rolled out at the end of June 2026 is worth knowing about before your next trip. Disney now requires guests boarding resort buses or boats at Disney Springs to have a valid hotel or dining reservation — effectively closing the popular workaround of parking at Disney Springs for free and riding transportation to any resort on property.
On-property hotel guests aren't much affected: anyone with a valid Disney World resort reservation can still board buses and boats to visit other hotels freely. The tighter rules fall mainly on off-site guests. If you're staying off-property and have a resort dining reservation, you can park at Disney Springs and board transportation, but only within two hours of your reservation time. Alternatively, guests with dining reservations can park directly at the resort itself. Mobile Order alone is not a guaranteed entry point — cast members at resort gates may or may not accept it, and experiences have been inconsistent.
Lounge-hoppers on the Monorail loop still have an option, at least for now: cast members at the four theme parks are not currently checking reservations, so guests can park at a park and catch transportation to a resort from there. Pool hopping remains largely off the table, with a few built-in exceptions — guests at the All-Star Resorts (Movies, Music, and Sports) can move between those three, Port Orleans guests can hop between French Quarter and Riverside, and Animal Kingdom Lodge guests can visit both Kidani Village and Jambo House pools.
Looking ahead to the holidays, Disney has indicated that viewing resort holiday décor will also require a valid hotel or dining reservation, and stricter enforcement is expected. Disney hasn't offered an official explanation for the changes, but the practical reasons aren't hard to read: crowded buses, limited resort parking, and non-guests using free Disney transportation as a park-commuting hack were all putting pressure on the experience for actual resort guests.
