Walt Disney World has removed theme park reservation requirements for most guests with dated tickets, but the Disney Park Pass system remains in place for Annual Passholders, Cast Members and guests using undated tickets.
Disney Tourist Blog argues that the remaining reservation rules should be eliminated or substantially reformed. The site notes that park reservations were important when Walt Disney World reopened with sharply limited capacity in 2020, but says the system has become unnecessary for many current visits.
Disney ended reservation requirements for full-price one-day tickets in late 2022. Regular date-based multiday tickets followed in early 2024, meaning most visitors who buy standard dated admission can enter their selected parks without making a separate Park Pass reservation.
For Annual Passholders, Disney has eased some rules rather than ending reservations altogether. Passholders may visit after 2 p.m. without a reservation on many days, though that exception does not apply at Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays. Disney also designates occasional “good-to-go” days, when Annual Passholders and Cast Members can enter without a reservation.

Undercover Tourist is an authorized seller of Walt Disney World tickets, often at a discount off gate price.
The source’s call to retire the system is commentary, not an announced Disney policy change. Guests using an Annual Pass or undated admission should continue to check Disney’s current reservation requirements before visiting. Those planning Disney World tickets can also distinguish between dated and undated admission, since the reservation rules differ.
