If you've ever pictured yourself wearing those iconic ears on the other side of the turnstile, the timing couldn't be better. Disney World is planning to add 5,000 new positions in Central Florida over the next five years, a hiring push tied directly to the resort's ambitious expansion plans currently in the works.
The growth is substantial: Magic Kingdom is gaining a Cars-themed area in Frontierland along with a Villains Land, Disney's Animal Kingdom is adding a new land called Pueblo Esperanza, Hollywood Studios is getting Monstropolis, and a new hotel — Lakeshore Lodge — is also in the pipeline. More guests and more square footage naturally means more hands on deck.
Not all of those new roles will be the kind guests interact with face to face. Disney Ambassador Kylee Withers noted that behind-the-scenes cast members are often the ones who lay the groundwork for the immersive experiences guests enjoy, even if they rarely get the recognition. Disney says that three out of five of its leaders began in hourly roles, and full-time cast members in professional, leadership, and skilled operations stay with the company an average of 12 years — well above the national average.
The announcement comes as Disney World already holds the distinction of being the largest single-site employer in the United States, with roughly 80,000 cast members on the payroll. The new hires will build on that foundation as the resort grows into its next chapter. Those interested can keep an eye on Disney's official jobs site for openings as they become available.
