If you've been keeping tabs on Disney World's seemingly endless string of closures, here's a small but genuine win: the week of September 18th brought zero new temporary shutdowns across the resort. There were still plenty of ongoing refurbishments to navigate, plus one permanent closure — Wolfgang Puck's in Disney Springs closed for good — but no fresh surprises added to the list.
At Magic Kingdom, the Carousel of Progress remains closed since July 6th for a major overhaul that will modernize its scenes and add a new Walt Disney animatronic; a 2027 reopening is the current target. Also gone permanently as of July 7th are the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island, which are being cleared to make way for the new Cars-themed Piston Peak National Park area, featuring two brand-new attractions. Meanwhile at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Vacation Fun is closed but has hours reappearing on the calendar starting September 27th, and the entire Muppets Courtyard remains walled off as construction on the new Monsters, Inc. land — Monstropolis — continues. Confirmed dining options inside the new land include Harryhausen's and Archie's Square Pig Pizza.
Over at EPCOT, Coral Reef Restaurant has been closed since September 8th for refurbishment, with reservation availability returning November 4th pointing to a likely reopening around that time. The La Signature shop in the France Pavilion has been closed since June 30th; Guerlain products can be found temporarily at nearby Plume Et Palette. Sections of the Germany Pavilion — including guest bathrooms and most of the Volkskunst store — also remain shuttered with no announced reopening date.
At Disney's Animal Kingdom, the former DinoLand, USA footprint has been under transformation since February, with cranes now spotted adjusting rooftops as the new Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza, takes shape. That land will eventually feature three new rides: El Carrusel de los Animalitos, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, and Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto. On the resort hotel side, All-Star Sports Resort's Grandstand Spirits Pool Bar closed September 18th with a lengthy estimated reopening of mid-December 2026, and Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge has a series of lobby and corridor closures running through mid-October affecting check-in and access routes.
