By 2027, guests can expect a new Animal Kingdom land called Tropical Americas anchored by the community of Pueblo Esperanza, a phased opening of Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios, and the long-awaited return of Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom — now updated with new time periods and a Walt Disney animatronic. Disney's Lakeshore Lodge, a new resort near Bay Lake, is set to welcome its first guests on July 1, 2027, adding hundreds of rooms to the Magic Kingdom area.
All that excitement comes with a catch. When Disney opens multiple new experiences across several parks in the same year, demand tends to spike hard. Longer standby waits, tighter dining reservation windows, and fiercer competition for Lightning Lane selections are all realistic expectations during a high-energy opening period. Families traveling with young children — who already face shorter attention spans and longer recovery times — may find the pace especially grueling.
The price picture isn't particularly comforting either. Disney has already published Walt Disney World ticket prices through October 31, 2027, and peak single-day admission at Magic Kingdom now reaches $219. EPCOT tops out at $214, Hollywood Studios at $209, and Animal Kingdom at $189. Those figures cover only the gate — airfare, resort hotels, Lightning Lane purchases, and dining can push a family trip well into the thousands.
The counterargument that some veteran Disney fans are making: 2028 might just be the smarter play. Once the opening-season crowds thin out, operational kinks get worked out, and Disney continues rolling out additional expansions already in the pipeline. The new attractions aren't going anywhere after their debut months, and a slightly less frenzied version of the same experience could be far more enjoyable — especially for families watching their budget closely.
