Disney's Vero Beach Resort, the laid-back coastal alternative to Walt Disney World about two hours southeast of Orlando, is headed into a notable refurbishment in early 2028. Starting January 10, the resort pool will close for routine maintenance and won't reopen until sometime in April — a stretch of several months during which guests will be without one of the property's most-used amenities.
The pool isn't the only casualty. The Tiger Lily Water Play Area and Port Holes Miniature Golf will also go offline for the duration of the project. That's three recreational options disappearing at once at a resort where, unlike a traditional Walt Disney World stay, the property itself tends to be the main event rather than a quick home base between theme park days.
Disney is also cautioning guests that construction activity and noise may be noticeable in the affected areas even beyond the closed facilities themselves. The company characterizes the work as routine maintenance and has not suggested any of the amenities will be permanently removed or reimagined — they're expected to return once crews finish.
For travelers drawn to Vero Beach specifically for its beach-and-pool atmosphere, the closures are worth weighing carefully against those travel dates. Families who plan to spend most of their time on the beach or exploring the surrounding area may barely notice the difference, while those counting on pool time with younger kids could find the experience falls short of expectations. Either way, Disney has given plenty of advance notice, leaving room to adjust or reschedule before commitments are made.
