Souvenir collectors visiting Disney Springs have two fresh reasons to dig for loose change. Walt Disney World Resort has installed at least two next-generation pressed-penny machines at the popular shopping and entertainment district, continuing a resort-wide modernization effort that has already touched Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and the Disney Resort hotels over the past several years.
The new machines trade the old hand-crank-and-your-own-penny setup for digital touchscreens and preloaded blank copper discs. Guests can press a single design for $1 in cash, or grab the full set of eight designs for $5 — payable by cash or card, a convenience the older machines never offered.
The first new machine is inside World of Disney, the flagship merchandise store. Its eight designs spotlight beloved Disney Princesses: Tinker Bell, Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Aurora, Ariel, Rapunzel, and Tiana. The dispenser itself keeps things understated with a simple gray-and-black housing rather than the location-specific theming found on many other machines around the resort.
The second machine sits next to the Winnie the Pooh photo-op spot near the Art Corner store in the Marketplace neighborhood. Every design in that collection features at least one Hundred Acre Wood resident — Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, or Rabbit — paired with the Disney Springs logo and a character signature. Combinations include Eeyore and Tigger stacked together, Pooh mid-honey-jar, and a trio of Pooh, Piglet, and Eeyore sharing a single disc.
