Disney’s Hollywood Studios has added plain gray, solar-powered trash cans across much of the park, including areas near the Mickey Shorts Theater, BaseLine Tap House, Oasis Canteen and Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular.
The new receptacles have also been spotted along the walkway to Toy Story Land and outside The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure. Unlike themed bins at the park entrance and in Animation Courtyard, these units are undecorated gray on all sides.
Solar panels on top of the cans power built-in compactors. Guests can use a foot pedal to open the flap or pull it open by hand; Disney previously released an instructional video after guests found the design confusing.
