Guests arriving by car at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort are encountering a new driving route, and it's tripping up even experienced visitors. While the main entrance gate itself hasn't moved, the approach has changed: instead of using the southern roundabout on Floridian Way, drivers are now directed to the northern roundabout to reach the hotel.
A "Grand Floridian Turn Right" sign is posted before the roundabout to guide guests, but it can be easy to miss if you're not watching for it. Once through the main gate, note that the usual exit is currently blocked off, so departing guests are being routed out a different way as well.
The changes are part of a broader set of road improvements along World Drive aimed at better managing traffic flow around Magic Kingdom and the surrounding resort area. A Cast Member at the Grand Floridian told Disney Food Blog that the northern roundabout will become the permanent new entrance, and Apple Maps data suggests the construction could wrap up around October 22nd — though that timeline is subject to change.
Separately, some construction is also underway at the resort's Monorail station, though the Monorail continues to serve the Grand Floridian without interruption. Guests planning a stay there in the coming weeks should simply allow a little extra time to navigate the updated arrival route and watch for signage on Floridian Way.
