Walt Disney Imagineering filed a Notice of Commencement on September 18, 2026, authorizing general construction work at the Disney Vacation Club Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. The permit names Faden Builders Inc. as the contractor and covers the property at 4601 Floridian Way in Lake Buena Vista. It carries a one-year expiration from the filing date.
Faden Builders is no stranger to Walt Disney World, having completed previous work on property buildings as well as other themed entertainment projects. Beyond that, the scope of the upcoming work remains unclear — Disney has not made any announcement about what changes or improvements may be in store for the tower.
This isn't the first time the Island Tower has seen post-opening construction attention. Earlier in 2026, crews converted a set of exterior doors into a large window to better complement the lobby's existing windows overlooking Seven Seas Lagoon. That project wrapped up in May 2026, roughly six months after the tower first opened its doors to guests in December 2024.
