Disney's Hollywood Studios is expanding its evening entertainment lineup with the return of two fan-favorite projection shows. Beginning August 9, Disney Movie Magic and Wonderful World of Animation will once again light up the facade of the Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.
Disney Movie Magic kicks off at 8:40 p.m., taking guests on a fast-paced tour through the studio's live-action history — from musicals and comedies to major franchises like Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, and TRON. It's a relatively low-commitment watch: no theater seating, no long queue, just a striking spectacle guests can catch while strolling the park's main thoroughfare.
Wonderful World of Animation follows at 9 p.m., running approximately 12 minutes and spanning decades of Disney and Pixar storytelling. Mickey Mouse anchors both the opening and closing of the show, threading classic Disney identity through its modern catalog. The 9 p.m. start does put it in direct competition with the first Fantasmic! performance at the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater — a scheduling overlap that may help spread evening crowds more evenly across the park.
With these two shows alongside Fantasmic!, Hollywood Studios now has three nighttime offerings on the schedule. That said, the park has not restored a full fireworks spectacular since Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular disappeared when Walt Disney World closed in March 2020, and some guests continue to call for a larger pyrotechnic finale to the evening.
