The ships involved include the Disney Destiny, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish. Puerto Rico's Tourism Company, which confirmed the plans, estimates the eight calls will generate roughly $7.2 million in economic impact for the island. Homeport calls tend to carry more economic weight than transit stops, because passengers frequently spend extra nights in the city before or after their sailing — adding hotel stays, meals, and ground transportation to the local economy.
Puerto Rico Tourism Company Executive Director Willianette Robles Cancel highlighted the significance of the shift, noting that growing homeport operations creates an important opportunity to increase the economic value of the island's cruise sector.
