Disney Cruise Line is heading toward a 13-ship fleet by 2031, and the company just pulled back the curtain on how it plans to get there. At the 2026 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Walt Disney Imagineers and executives announced that three of the five remaining ships on order will form an entirely new class — one that hasn't been named yet, and whose individual ships haven't been named either.
Size-wise, the new class will land in the middle of Disney's current lineup — larger than the original Magic-class ships (84,000 tons, roughly 2,700 passengers) but smaller than the massive Wish-class vessels (144,000 tons, around 4,000 passengers). The first ship in the new class is slated to debut in 2029, with a second following later that same year and a third arriving in late 2030.
Before the new class sets sail, two other ships will join the fleet first. The Disney Believe — part of the existing Wish class — is scheduled for late 2027, and a Tokyo-based Wish-class ship is also expected in 2029. That brings the Wish class to five ships total, while the Adventure class remains a single vessel: the Disney Adventure, which Disney inherited mid-construction from another company rather than designing itself. That's largely why the company chose to develop a fresh class rather than commission more Adventure-style ships.
The announcement is part of a broader wave of Disney news from D23, which also included a first look inside the Disney Believe and details on upcoming attractions at Disney World's Villains Land. As the fleet grows, Disney Cruise Line will have more than tripled in size compared to where it stood less than a decade ago.
