Disney Cruise Line has signed a 15-year agreement with Huna Totem Corporation (HTC) that secures continued sailings to Icy Strait Point in Hoonah, Alaska, extending the cruise line's presence at the destination through at least 2041. The deal grants Disney Cruise Line preferential docking for one vessel per week and includes a minimum annual passenger guarantee.
Icy Strait Point sits on Chichagof Island in Southeast Alaska and is owned and operated by HTC, making it the largest employer in the small community of Hoonah. The destination is rooted in Huna Tlingit culture and was developed to offer visitors authentic Alaska experiences — from wildlife viewing to outdoor recreation — while directly benefiting the local community.
Disney Cruise Line has been bringing guests to Icy Strait Point for nearly a decade. The Disney Magic and Disney Wonder currently make summer Alaska sailings, with select seven-night itineraries on both ships including a call at the port. The new agreement ensures that tradition continues well into the next decade.
Howard Sherman, President of Huna Totem Tourism Group, noted that each Disney Cruise Line visit helps sustain local jobs and businesses while creating meaningful connections between guests and Hoonah residents. Jose Fernandez, Disney Cruise Line's Vice President of Port Strategy, Development and Operations, called Icy Strait Point a fan-favorite stop for its natural beauty, wildlife, and cultural heritage.
